There are places on this planet where silence speaks louder than anything else — where ice, wind, and water hold stories older than us all. The Arctic Howl is one of those stories.
This documentary follows an Ocean Missions scientific sailing expedition onboard the sailing vessel Tilvera into the Hope Spot of Svalbard — a fragile, breathtaking region at the edge of the known world. What we encountered there was not only beauty, but vulnerability. A living system under pressure.
Throughout the journey, scientists, biologists, and conservation leaders working on the front lines shared what they witness every day: ecosystems shifting, wildlife adapting under strain, and the growing weight of global warming and human impact reaching even the most remote Arctic waters.
But this is not just a record of what is being lost.
It is a call to listen.
Through their voices, The Arctic Howl offers a rare, unfiltered perspective on the challenges these ecosystems face, and the pathways that still exist to protect them. It reminds us that the Arctic is not distant or disconnected; its balance is deeply tied to the balance of life on Earth.
Beyond the expedition, the film opens a wider conversation: how do we protect what feels so far away, and why does it matter so much that we do?
Because it does.
This journey was made possible with the support of Sony España and IATI Seguros, in collaboration with Tilvera Expeditions, Mission Blue, Arctic Angels, and Seas At Risk.
