This year we are inviting experts from different fields; plastic science, whale and bird scientists to collect data about Icelandic ocean health and develop together a field course for students next year 2020.

Our second expedition was absolutely a dream. It’s been months waiting for this moment and we are full of excitement and quite nervous. It is the first time that we are going to have participants onboard!

In September 2020 we set sails for our third expedition. This expedition was full of challenges, but most of them even before starting sailing, for both participants and the crew.

On the calm, sunny autumn morning of September 28th, we departed from our home port of Húsavík on our 7th expedition with four crew and 10 enthusiastic participants ready to set sails for sustainability and become ocean ambassadors.

In early June, Shannon Rake and Sylvia Earle from Mission Blue, together with the The Explorer´s Club team, invited us (Charla Basran and myself) to the “World’s Oceans Week” event that took place in New York city. There, we had the chance to present officially the declaration of the First Hope Spot in Iceland and to be present in the United Nations World Oceans Day event.

On this expedition, we were going to create a documentary. A documentary about Ocean Missions and our journey, about the Arctic and its wonders, but also about man and the dangers that come from our kind, threatening the sea, and with it, our own future
